The Many Forms of Friendship

Lily and Dashawn: The Love-Hate Relationship

Lily and Dashawn clearly do love each other, which you can tell from their cuddling throughout the interview. Despite all of their outward affection, they hold back none of their thoughts on each other. Take the fact that these two were so quick to say what annoyed them about the other as an example. So many people are afraid that calling out their friend’s flaws will ruin their friendship, but in this case, it makes their relationship stronger.

The fact that Lily’s immediate response to “What annoys you about the other person?” was to pick up his vape and call him out for it really does show that she wants the best for him. Dashawn also pointed out that Lily has trouble communicating with people and that it frustrates him. Both of their responses were genuine, but they were also things that they could both improve on and better themselves with, which is extremely valuable in any relationship.

Jacob and Akaash: The Bromance

These two are the classic example of a “bromance.” A lot of male friends are not willing to cuddle together, but these two thrive on it. Like Akaash said in the interview, he loves it when Jacob lets him cuddle with him in his bed when he’s sad, which is way more than most roommates will do.

I have never in my life seen two people more in sync with one another. They’re both so adventurous and push each other to do more every day. Their ideal day together consists of rollerblading and testing the limits of what they can pull off climbing in Ann Arbor. A lot of friendships have the one who keeps the other in-check in dangerous situations, but neither of them are willing to stay back. Because they have this type of chemistry, they are never just sitting around idly.

Claire and Beth: The Long-Time Friends

You can immediately tell that Claire and Beth are different from the other two pairs I interviewed since they aren’t on top of each other for the entire video. While these they don’t share much physical contact, they are pretty much always together. They’re roommates, they have the same friend group, they live in the same town, and they take a lot of the same classes. Between all of that, the only time they’re not together is when they’re taking a shower.

If I spent that much time with a single person, I would definitely not be able to stand them, but these two are actually friends and I find that amazing. They have this patience with each other that you only get once you’ve been friends with someone for a while.
